I was having a good week. Got spring cleaning done, inspection of apartment came on Wednesday morning so didn't have to worry about removing cats, and colored with niece. She has the habit of watching me draw instead of joining me and asked to draw her teacher. I said that I don't know what her teacher looks like. She says, She looks like a teacher. I made her draw her teacher, it looked like Ms. Potato Head. Frodo was reluctant to come in today, but did manage it w/out picking him up.
Then I come to work to hear from the manager that we have the prospect of being bought out by the corporate office. Corporate people were present this week to make their offer. I heard the bossman doesn't want to sell, but his father does. Father is technically owner on paper, the son (bossman) is just president of the franchise. The manager said there is nothing to worry about, nobody is getting fired. According to others, there is something to worry about. Like getting paid less, starting completely over earning benefits, the other franchise location closing and those people getting fired or moved to our location, and change in management. I heard from another car rental that was bought out by the corporate office that if you don't reach their sales goals, you get fired. Even better, all overtime and bonuses are now out because we have to show we are making good profits on paper. Nobody is allowed to clock in early, but we still wait for delayed flights. A couple of guys were reading the want ads. They also joked how if they lose their jobs they can always buy a gun and become drug dealers. But at least this takeover won't officially take place for another year so hopefully I'll get my 3 week vacation days I worked 7 years for next February. Perhaps I'll go to Make up school to be a make-up artist. Any vacation plans I had dreamed up this summer are now out of the question, I need to hold back any luxuries to absorb the less money I will be making this year. Not that I got that much from bonuses anyway.
So how are you? I want to cry like my father did when I was 5 and he got lay off from a company takeover. Not understanding the situation, I hugged him saying it will be all right. I will always remember his reply: I wish that were true. Now I feel bad begging for new shoes instead of wearing my sister's hand me down ones because kids at school were making fun of my old scruffy shoes.
Post later. Bye!
