Work drama

Hello again. I missed out on drama this week. A coworker's stepdaughter heard a negative comment about the stepdaughter's mother at a shower and repeated the comment to her mother. The mother calls up my coworker's husband complaining about the comment. His response was close to "What do you expect me to do about, I wasn't there?" He hates his ex-girlfriend so he was not about to defend her to to his family member who made the negative comment. My coworker says now she will have a talk with her stepdaughter about handling things differently, like speaking to the person who made the comment that it upset her or have an adult speak for her at the time of the comment and not days after. Lesson here is: Be careful what you say in front of children because it will be repeated.
Then I heard more drama about her friend's husband breaking his leg, like bones sticking out of the skin broken, and is living off unemployment for a while until he is healed. Well after this friend comes home after a full time job, he yells at her for not getting everything done around the house and screams at her in front of their 2 children. One night she did not feel like cooking, so she ordered a pizza. He freaks over the $20 she spent on the pizza. This friend can't wait for this husband to get back to work. I'm surprised no one is helping her out. I guess everybody is too busy with their own lives.
Next came a simple question that sparked a fury in my coworker to the point she called the manager to tattle. The other coworker I work with asked about a mistake another coworker made and asked who was right, him or the other guy. Somebody used the wrong reservation and when the other one was looking for it they realized what happened. Instead of asking someone in higher authority what to do, the errored coworker tried to cover up his mistake so there won't be evidence of his screw up. Yeah sure, computer records everything you do on it. Problem is the fixed contract is not signed by the customer, nor does she know about the mix up. My coworker is steaming while I'm laughing as she calls the manager to complain about this coworker's mishaps he won't admit to. Things are easier to fix sooner than later when everyhting is said and done. She made a note on the contract so the returning customer will be informed of what happened. She was furious that this guy won't admit to mistakes or ask for help when he should. I think he's scared to call the manager because he don't want to get into trouble. OK, the best way to avoid getting into real bad trouble is to admit you screwed up, apologize for your bad judgment, don't make the same mistake twice, and ask for a second opinion if you are not sure. I have no fear of calling my manager over trivial things, then I know what to do next time. Post later. Bye!
