Hello again. I read in the paper today about a new reality show that took place in Iowa. Get this. William Shatner waltzes in claiming he is making a science fiction film. He goes to Riverside, Iowa where the future birthplace of Captain Kirk of the original Star Trek series is. The town has a Star Trek festival every year. By the 10th episode, the finished film is viewed by the townspeople and are told this is really a reality series. Some laugh while others were angry. I don't think I will watch it. The paper claims the producers said the townspeople were respectably shown without stereotypes of dumb hicks chewing hay, superfriendly and trusting people who count cows all day, and vast seas of cornfields between dinky towns 100 years behind in technology. I don't quite buy that, no matter what Hollywood says. The town of Riverside is only 40 more people than my hometown so they would be close in comparison if anyone wants to know what my hometown is like.
So anyway, Invasion Iowa airs on Spike TV Tuesday at 8 and 10 pm.
