I just heard on the news about the average gas price is now $1.99. That is what it just jumped to in the past 2 days. And over $2 prices are to stay until November. I have heard that one before and prices when down instead of up. The future is so hard to predict anymore. We can no longer rely on what has happened before to help us with foreseeing the future. Once books said it was impossible for a high unemployment and high inflation to occur at the same time. It happened when I was in high school. So much for impossible.
I heard advice on the news of keeping up with maintainence, drive defensively, and empty your trunk to increase your miles per gallon number. There is also another soluton educated experts often don't mention. Renewable Alternative Fuels. Eeek. Becoming less dependent on nonrenewable crude oil from countries who hate us seems impossible for experts to bring up to politicians who have power to fund alternative fuels. I would to know why.
I saw on TV a few years ago a report how there is a gasoline made from 90% corn. Problem was that the car manufacturers refuse to change how they make cars, even though cars that are hybrids or accept alternative fuels would fly off the car lots. Then there is also low demand for this CHEAP gas causing only 3 gas stations in the state of Iowa selling this fuel. If I knew a nearby station carried this corn gas, I would be buying a new car that took this fuel. As it is I'm sure my engine would be ruined by it. Though it does accept 10% ethanol (corn gas) even though the owner's manuel says not to use it. I think we do see our negative future concerning more soaring gas prices. The problem is the people in power don't want adapt to changing circumstances. Societies that can adapt to changing times tend to survive and the unadaptable disappear like dinosaurs, mammoths, great auks, dodos, Russian Czars, Roman Empire, or Spartan dominance of Greek armies. The question is not Can we adapt to a changing world, but Will we? Post later. Bye!
