I notice some of my old Barbie clothes my mother had made for me in my niece's toys. My sister explains she and mother didn't know who they belong to so they became niece's. I'm sorry I was under the impression we were only taking things that were our own. My sister, brother, mother, and I set aside boxes of things that belonged to a sister not present for her to look at later. Then if the owner didn't want then anyone could take it. Oh, now the rules have changed so now everything is free game. Then she tells me she tossed my old Barbies in the garbage b/c they were covered in mold from the basement flooding years ago. I'm heart broken my childhood memories are covered in mold. Sister defends they were icky and disgusting so she had toss them. I explain I'm not angry with her, I'm upset at my toys being destroyed. I swear my sister has turned into Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
Now since I don't have kids to inherit my things (excuse me I have 4 nieces to fight over my things), my childhood memories are swiftly ending up in my niece's toybox. Nobody can recall what my toys look like. I explained they should ask who items belong to, my sisters and brother receive this courtesy so why not me. I finally ask my sister take the Barbie clothes mother had made for me, the rest my niece can keep. What is my sister suppose to tell her daughter. I say to tell her that Auntie has taken them for her to play with when she visits. She offered a doll blanket she remembers making for me to make peace. My sister is forgiven.
