Out of town funeral
Spent 3 days with my widowed Aunt and relieved to be back home. Aunt was constantly receiving phone calls and fretting what my sister's plans were. Her stepdaughter and sister-in-law came by to select pics for the funeral displays the day before we came. We asked if stepdaughter was aware she is not inheriting a pile of money. Aunt dearly hopes so, she barely gets by as it is. We found the casket wreath had labels of Beloved husband, Father, and Granddaughter. I had look twice disbelieving it said Granddaughter instead of Grandfather. It said Granddaughter. Mom and I went to the 1st viewing and proofread the memorial paper. Had a few mistakes and misspelled names. All corrected we left. Aunt thought nobody would come to the visitation or funeral. We had about 100 people sign their name to the book. Half his side and half hers. Her side wasn't as fond of uncle as his side, but we show support for Aunt. He had friends and neighbors stop by and send flowers. He was estranged from his daughter many years, but once he went into the nursing home 2 years ago, she came around to see him. Got a couple of flower vases with roses. Let Mom have the lily vase. Stepdaughter took a bunch of flowers and Aunt took the rest. Aunt was so worried what she would do with all the flowers being delivered, she didn't expect so many. We said to share them. Cats were hungry when I came home as usual and got filled up fast. Now have to load pics I took for Aunt.
