So close

Had a job interview at a department store. Had a lovely conversation though explaining why I was let go was tough. Finally lady explains the managers pick their people and possibly do a 2nd interview. Go home and hours later I check my email to see HR person sent me a mesage that I will not be offered a job. The time of the email was right after I left. Is there something wrong with being dependable, help out coworkers, work hours and days nobody else will, and can sell anything? How stupid of me to think the interview went well.
