Unhelpful service

If you find yourself getting unhelpful service when you ask for
assistance carrying luggage around the airport or driving the car to the
curb, it is likely because most people do not tip. One guy I worked with
took a customer's luggage out to his rental car and then left it beside
the car on the cement unattended because he did not expect the guy to
tip for the extra effort.

There are as many people who say with a smile, "Thank you very much"
before walking or driving away as there are people who tip with bills or
coins. By the way, a quarter for a tip is often seen as an insult rather
than a reward.

I thought I would mention that after hearing from the car rental next
door about her tip for waiting on a customer on a delayed flight. Her
company doesn't allow gratutity to be accepted. I explained my company
does allow it, though most do not tip so often we call a skycap (who are
paid the airport to help airport customers with luggage, wheelchairs,
etc.) instead of helping the customer out ourselves. Enough thoughts for
now. Post later. Bye!
