Ragbrai cometh

The Des Moines Register (newspaper) sponsors a bicycle ride across the
state of Iowa. The route changes every year. It goes through little
towns and overnight stops in larger towns. It is great publicity for
tiny towns rarely mentioned in the news. Every town has gifts for the
bicyclists. It has gotten so popular that they had to reject
participates and refund the deposit this year.

Today is the start of Ragbrai with the bicyclists dipping their tires in
the Missouri River and partying at Stopover #1. 5 days from now they
will finish their journey to the other side of Iowa and dip their tires
in the Mississippi River. It is not a race like Tour de France so no
yellow jacket will rewarded. Ragbrai is just bicycle ride across the
state with lots of free souvinirs and free food for the participants.
Post later. Bye!
